The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) has delivered aid to more than 10 million people in the last five years within the scope of the zakat campaign carried out with the theme of “Let’s Enrich Our Brotherhood By Zakat.”
TDV, which delivers aid to the needy in many areas from disaster and emergency aid to education, from food to shelter, from charitable and social activities to medical supplies and activities to support religious life, has reached more than 10 million people with the help of Zakat of 550 million TL in the last five years.
Izani Turan, General Director of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, stated that they built bridges of brotherhood with the zakat campaign they carry out in cooperation with the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Reminding that zakat is obligatory worship, Izani Turan said, “We strive to deliver zakat donations of the benefactor with a high sense of faith to as wide a multitude of people as possible in our country and abroad.”
Emphasizing that TDV has been continuing its charity activities for nearly half a century, Turan said, “We are running to the aid of the needy with our 1003 branches in 81 provinces in the country. Abroad, our Foundation, which carries out aid activities in 149 countries, continues to work actively in crisis regions and needy geographies. In the first 11 months of 2022, we collected 265 million TL of zakat and delivered our aid to more than 2 million needy people. We are currently helping out in the field; we are reliably delivering aid to millions of our brothers in crisis zones where hunger, natural disaster, war, and violence are occurring in different geographies around the world,” he said.
Turan, who said that zakat worship can be performed throughout the year, expressed: “Zakat worship is a worship that can be performed not only in the month of Ramadan but also at any time of year, Zakat, which is the face of charity and Hasanat that embraces society, is one of the most effective ways of doing goodness. It is of great importance that zakat, which is one of our religious duties that directly touch the individual and social life of Muslims, is collected correctly and delivered to those in real need. At a time when our nation is looking for real needy and reliable institutions to present zakat, our Foundation identifies those in need with the ‘Let’s Enrich Our Brotherhood By Zakat’ project and becomes a bridge between the hand that offers and the hand that receives. We serve our citizens through our zekathesapla.tdv.org address and mobile application to enable our citizens to perform zakat worship throughout the year and to assist calculate their aid and deliver them to the needy. Our benefactors can easily donate their zakat and deliver it to the needy.”
