The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) is distributing 3,500 portions of Qurbani meat donated by benefactors to the needy in Harar, a city in Ethiopia formerly under Ottoman sovereignty.
The Qurbani on Behalf campaign launched this year with the slogan “Share your Qurbani, get closer to your brother” has reached a total of 42,700 shares nationwide across 79 countries.
Operating in 34 distinct regions, TDV is conducting slaughter and distribution activities while identifying beneficiaries in Harar through aid organizations. TDV commenced Qurbani slaughters in 9 regions on the first day of Eid Al Adha and is delivering packaged meat portions to families after dividing them. The distribution is set to be completed by the last day of Eid.
TDV officials and volunteers were joined by Mayor Eliyas Yonis at the distribution point set up in front of Harar Municipality.
Yonis noted the presence of many needy people in the region and conveyed his appreciation to the benefactors.
