Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) and the Presidency of Religious Affairs distributed sacrificial meat to 20,000 needy families in Cape Town, South Africa.
In a statement, Türkiye’s Consul General in Cape Town, Sinan Yeşildağ, said that the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, in coordination with Awqaf SA, one of South Africa’s leading Muslim NGOs, distributed meat to 20,000 families in Cape Town.
Yeşildağ emphasized the importance of the distribution, which included the participation of Mustafa Baytar, the Mufti of Çankaya and TDV Branch President, as a TDV volunteer, for the solidarity between Türkiye and South Africa.
Noting that Türkiye has always supported the development of the people of South Africa and has been in cooperation with local institutions and NGOs for this purpose, Yeşildağ said, “We are honored that Türkiye is once again contributing to South Africa in a meaningful way.”
Michael Collier, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Awqaf SA, expressed his gratitude to the Turkish nation and said, “As Awqaf SA, we are pleased to cooperate with our brothers and sisters in Türkiyeonce again.”
Collier stated that within the scope of the Qurbani distribution organization, meat was distributed to a total of 60 thousand families in South Africa, Namibia, and Mozambique, in addition to 20 thousand families in Cape Town.
