The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) provides education to almost 9,000 students, from preschool to high school, in its schools in Syria.
All expenses of the schools built in northern Syria with the generosity of donors are covered by the Pakistan-based Selam Evi Aid Association and the Diyanet İşleri Turkish-Islamic Union.
In this context, 983 students at Mithat Sevin Middle School in Idlib are receiving educational aid.
Muhammet Furkan Topçu, TDV’s Syria Regional Coordinator, reported that around 60 cleaning staff work alongside 270 teachers in the schools.
Topçu emphasized that education is offered at all levels, from kindergarten to high school, and students are guided into various fields according to their academic success.
“We completed the building of 13,000 briquette houses.”
Regarding the foundation’s nationwide social housing project, Topçu mentioned that around 130,000 people currently live in the houses built within the scope of the initiative.
According to Topçu, 13,000 briquette houses have been constructed in various locations, along with schools, mosques, water wells, and solar panels in the surrounding areas.
Ahmed Urabi, who resides in the social housing project, explained that his home in Aleppo was destroyed due to attacks by the Assad regime, forcing him to migrate to Idlib in 2016.
After initially living in tents and then relocating to TDV’s houses, Urabi said, “We hope that our brothers in Türkiye will continue supporting us until we stand on our own, just like they have done up until now. Türkiye is our closest ally. They have never abandoned us, and we hope they will also assist us in Syria’s recovery.”
