The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) has inaugurated a water well in Niger that will serve 6,000 people.

As part of its “A Drop of Life” water well and foundation fountain project, TDV inaugurated a water well and a foundation fountain in Maradi for the people facing water scarcity.

The water well and fountains inaugurated in Maradi, 800 kilometers from the capital Niamey, will serve 6,000 people.

TDV Niger Coordinator Muhammed Furkan Özkan announced that the water well and fountains, funded by donations from Turkish donors, have been opened for the use of the regional inhabitants.

Özkan mentioned that the well is 80 meters deep and water is brought to the surface with the help of solar panels. He highlighted that 12 water fountains and 6 solar panels were installed at the site to ensure convenient access to water for the residents.

Özkan pointed out that there is a 10-ton water tank next to the fountain, and he highlighted the provision of a watering trough for animals and a drainage system. He extended thanks to the benefactors for the well, which will serve the community for many years.
