Syrian Mustapha and his brothers can now sleep without fear of freezing

25 January 2022

Turkiye Diyanet Foundation delivered aid to Mustapha, an 8-year-old Syrian, and his family who came up with a photo posted on social media and asked his mother to get out of bed at night and warm up on foot to prevent freezing.
Mustapha and his brothers, who escaped the civil war and settled with his family at The Ayncara Camp in Kefr Jannah District in Azaz, where they tried to survive in a tent, were provided with winter aid such as food, stoves, energy, boots, and coats from our foundation.
Mahmut Temelli, Syria Coordinator of Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, stated that life in tent cities has become much more difficult as winter conditions take effect.
Temelli stated that they had tried to reach out to the oppressed people since the beginning of the war and added:
“One of the preachers of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Mrs. Merve Likoglu, started a charity action by sharing a photo of our Mustapha brother, who was lifted from bed at night by his mother and carried out to prevent him from freezing through her social media account. May Almighty Allah bless our teacher Merve. A little spark has led to great goodness. We immediately reached out to our brother Mustapha, who, along with his parents and four siblings, fought for a life in the tent at Ayncara Camp in Kefr Jannah. They were really in a difficult situation. All the beds they used were wet, they had nothing to burn, and they had no clothes to protect themselves from the cold. We delivered the winter aid we provided with the support of our donors to the family.
We replaced their wet beds and sponges. We set up a stove in their tent and left enough fuel for them to spend the winter. Now they will be able to sleep peacefully without fear of freezing.”
Temelli stated that they delivered 1,000 stoves, 100 tons of coal, winter boots, and coats not only to Mustapha and his family, but also to nearly 1,000 children on the first Saturdays and Sundays in Idlib, Afrin, and Azaz region. “Now, 1,003 of our branches have mobilized to deliver aid to our brothers and sisters in Turkiye and Syria. We are doing our best to make this winter feel warmer. Inshallah, we strive so that no child has to get out of bed to warm up, and that he can put his head on the pillow with peace and confidence. We would like to thank our citizens who support our efforts, share the same sensitivities, and do not remain indifferent to the oppressed who tremble in the cold while sitting in their warm homes.
Temelli stated that any donor can make donations online in any amount they wish from bagis.tdv.org. He also added that all citizens who wish to send in-kind aid can receive their aid to the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation Kilis Logistics Center, provided they are clean and the package has not been opened.
