In cooperation with the Istanbul Mufti office, and the Istanbul Branch of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), an aid campaign was organized for the disaster victims in flood-hit Pakistan.
The campaign, which was launched with the slogan “Helping Hand to Pakistan”, was supported by 39 district muftis and TDV Branches in Istanbul. Within the scope of the aid campaign to Pakistan, which was adversely affected by the flood, approximately 4 million 500 thousand TL was collected from Istanbul.
Istanbul Mufti Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş received in his office the District Muftis, who collected the highest amount of aid in Istanbul within the scope of the campaign, and who are also the TDV District President. Mufti Arpaguş received the aid collected in support of Pakistan from Küçükçekmece District Mufti Hasan Hüseyin Palabıyık, Eyüpsultan District Mufti Basri Bektaş, Beşiktaş District Mufti İsmail Yıldız, Zeytinburnu District Mufti Mehmet Münip Şallıoğlu, Kartal District Mufti Mehmet Öztürk and Bağcılar District Mufti İbrahim Yavuz. TDV Istanbul Branch manager Mehmet Fatih Sönmez was present at the delivery of the aid collected within the scope of the campaign to the Istanbul Mufti.
Millions of people were affected by the floods caused by the heavy monsoon rains that affected Pakistan. Thousands of people have lost their lives, tens of thousands have been injured, nearly 2 million homes have been damaged and more than half a million of them have been destroyed in Pakistan due to the rains.
