“We have not left the earthquake regions, and we will not leave”

  TDV General Manager İzani Turan, speaking at the “My Present Is Quran” program held in Hatay Antakya on the occasion of Lailat Al Qadr for earthquake victims, said: We have been here since the first moment of the earthquake, we intend to stay here as a foundation until our people here say ‘We can manage on our own now.”

  On Lailat al-Qadr in the Antakya district of Hatay, where the heaviest damage from the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Dua were held after the Tarawih prayers, and the Holy Quran were recited for the people who lost their lives in the earthquakes.

After the Tarawih prayers performed following the Isha prayer, the Holy Quran was recited, and Dua’ were offered for the people who lost their lives in the earthquakes.”

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) General Director, İzani Turan, who stated that they have been in the region since the first moment of the earthquake, said “We are here and we have never left from here. We will not leave, Inshallah, we intend to stay here as long as the people here say ‘We are self-sufficient now, thank you.” This foundation, which set out with the motto “To dominate goodness on earth” mobilized whatever kind of goodness it could; we brought one thousand 600 trailers and 435 trucks of humanitarian aid, also we have delivered nearly 400 million of aid. In addition, we have hosted nearly 400 thousand people in our various courses, dormitories, and places belonging to our presidency. We took care of their needs. We have teats at 41 locations in the earthquake zone. We have large event tents at all 11 locations. We have around 500 Masjids, and we are currently celebrating Lailat al Qadr in one of our Masjids where we are present.” He said, “We will celebrate our Lailat al Qadr with our distinguished reciters and Hodja in Türkiye. On this night when the Holy Quran was revealed, we will distribute the Holy Quran”.

“Our littles running around here are our world, our dream, and our future”

Turan added “We are organizing many activities that can rehabilitate them. We have activities such as ‘Orta Oyunu’ and ‘Karagöz-Hacivat’ style shows. We also have an admirable gift set specifically designed for them. These gift sets include books that appeal to their world.” We have several books that will spark their interest. Today we are here to share the Lailat al Qadr of our earthquake victims, to share their feelings, and to alleviate their pain. May Almighty Allah be pleased with our nation, and may our state be safe. Since the earthquake, a great example of solidarity and unity has been exhibited.”

“Everyone should do whatever they can.”

Series actor and TDV volunteer Cem Uçan said, “It’s a sad Lailat al Qadr for all of us. May Almighty Allah have mercy on all those who lost their lives, and offer patience to the injured and their families. We are spending a night that we have been waiting for a year, but it’s a sad night. I am here as a volunteer, and we have just distributed food. We will also distribute the Holy Quran. We try to touch people’s souls and hearts as much as we can. If we can be a remedy to their wounds, a salve to their pain, how happiness for us. Everyone should do their best, both materially and spiritually. If we cannot do anything materially or spiritually, we should pray for these people because they are going through very difficult times.
