Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) continues to quench the thirst of millions through its “A Drop of Life” project. Since 2015, the project has installed 1,442 water wells and goodness fountains across 41 countries, granting access to clean drinking water for approximately 11 million people.
The project not only provides safe water but also restores hope and dignity to vulnerable communities. At present, construction of 143 wells and fountains is underway in 20 countries, while 95 new projects are being prepared for implementation in 16 others.
In Palestine, and particularly in Gaza, 18 wells and fountains
inaugurated by the foundation has been a lifeline, providing families with clean water after years of hardship.
The work continues: 143 new wells are being built, expected to reach nearly a million more people. When all current and planned projects are complete, clean water will flow to the homes of more than 11.5 million people.
Constructed for long-term durability
With wells drilled 50–500 meters deep and powered by electricity or solar energy, the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation ensures lasting access to clean water. Each well stores 5–40 tons of water in large tanks and distributes it through 8–18 taps, with additional sections built to serve animals. Depending on the region, construction takes between 2 and 6 months.
To guarantee sustainability, TDV teams check the wells annually during the holy Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. Repairs are handled by partner organizations for the first five years, and afterward by TDV itself, ensuring the wells remain operational for generations.
The “A Drop of Life” project is carried out with no discrimination of religion, language, or ethnicity. While most projects are mosque-centered in Muslim-majority areas, they also serve people of different faiths who share the same need for clean water.
