TDV General Manager İzani Turan announced that in 2025, the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation reached over 50.7 million needy people in Türkiye and 149 countries worldwide.

At a press meeting held at TDV headquarters, Turan extended his congratulations to journalists on Working Journalists’ Day (January 10).

Highlighting the Foundation’s global reach, Turan stated that TDV conducted humanitarian activities in 149 countries in 2025 and seeks to expand its services to 150 countries.

He emphasized that Türkiye is widely recognized across the humanitarian world and noted that through zakat, qurbani, and other charitable programs, millions of people were supported.

Through zakat alone, TDV reached 2.16 million people, while qurbani program distributions benefited 37.28 million people, including 1.18 million Palestinians.

An additional 1.74 million people received meat through oblation, aqiqah, and gratitude qurbani donations.

TDV has a mobile kitchen that can prepare meals for 10,000 people in emergencies

Turan shared the following information regarding the efforts carried out for Gaza under Israeli genocide:

“We have maintained continuous contact with Gaza for more than two years since October 7, 2023. We carry out joint efforts with AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent. Through our partners, we have delivered a wide range of aid to Gaza, including community kitchens, water services, food packages, and medical supplies. To date, we have provided aid to Gaza totaling 42.6 million USD.”

Stating that Syria remains on the agenda and is a highly strategic region for Türkiye, Turan said that humanitarian aid supplies reaching 1,163,500 people were delivered to Syria.

Turan also noted that humanitarian aid was provided to 88,523 people in other crisis regions such as Sudan, Yemen, and Arakan, where suffering continues due to civil wars and natural disasters.

Referring to domestic disaster preparedness, Turan stated that TDV has established AFAD-accredited teams in eight provinces across Türkiye and increased the number of vehicles and logistical units designated for disaster response to 58.

He also added that TDV has a mobile kitchen capable of preparing meals for 10,000 people during emergencies.

500,000 TL Marriage Support for Youth

Turan stated that through 1,003 branches across 81 provinces, TDV created aid cards for 506,646 people in need within Türkiye in 2025 through its cash and in-kind aid programs.

Noting that significant support was provided for 262 mosques damaged during the February 6 earthquakes, Turan said that construction is currently ongoing for three places of worship: the Pristina Mosque and Complex in Kosovo, the Skopje Mosque in North Macedonia, and the Akova Mosque in Montenegro.

Addressing criticism occasionally directed at overseas aid, Turan emphasized that there are many needy people around the world and underlined that Türkiye must remain strong together with its friends.

Sharing details about projects planned for 2026, Turan said:

“We have launched a campaign under the slogan ‘Two People, One Life’ to support young people in need who wish to get married. Based on fair and meaningful criteria, we will select young people aged 18–35 and provide them with 500,000 TL in marriage support. This support will be provided as aid, with no expectation of repayment.”

Turan also noted that Ramadan preparations are underway and that TDV plans to intensify its qurban operations this year, ensuring transparent communication and proper fulfillment of all proxy obligations.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy General Manager Recep Şükrü Balkan.
