The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) will send 36,750 donors’ Qurbani shares, which are to be slaughtered in Egypt and Lebanon, to Palestine under the Qurbani on behalf Program.
In response to Israel’s attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which have caused significant hardship for the Palestinian people, the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) organized a Qurbani on behalf Program for Eid al-Adha.
Mehmet Bilgin, Counselor of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, and Mahmut Temelli, TDV’s Palestine-Egypt Coordinator, provided training to volunteers who will aid in the Qurbani slaughters as part of the “Share Your Qurbani, Get Closer to Your Brother” initiative, held in Cairo, Egypt.
Providing information to TDV staff and volunteers about the regions of their assignment, Temelli outlined the important aspects to be conscious of during the Qurbani slaughters.
Mehmet Bilgin, Counselor of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, mentioned that the Qurbani donations handed over to the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation will be distributed to needy Palestinian families.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Bilgin explained that the Israeli attacks starting on October 7 have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians and have intensified recently. He remarked, “Our brothers and sisters, who have been made homeless and desperate, are facing significant difficulties in meeting their basic human needs. The meat from the Qurbani animals, which we will slaughter in Egypt and Lebanon under the entrusted Qurbani, will be preserved in suitable conditions due to the closure of the border crossings and sent to our Palestinian siblings at the earliest convenience.”
Bilgin emphasized that during the Eid Al Adha, 5,250 cattle will be slaughtered on behalf of 36,750 donors, including 4,000 in Egypt’s Ismailia, Abu Simbel, and Gona regions and 1,250 in Lebanon, and he stated that they are making substantial efforts through the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation to deliver the donors’ consigned to Palestinians without hesitation.
Bilgin conveyed his appreciation to the donors and TDV volunteers contributing to the organization.
