In Senegal, DITIB became a “light” for 400 cataract patients

Mosques associations affiliated with the Turkish Islamic Union of Religious Affairs (DITIB), which operates in Germany, have provided 400 people in Senegal with a cataract surgery campaign.
In cooperation with the Essen DITIB State Regional Union and the Turkiye Diyaent Foundation (TDV), 400 people started to see well again as a result of the surgeries performed with the support of Balve Mimar Sinan, Hamm-Hövel Selimiye, Hattingen Fatih, Hemer Merkezi, Iserlohn Center, Lüdenscheid Sultan Ahmet, Wickede Anadolu and Witten Sultan Ahmet mosque associations.
Ozkan Guler, a Member of the Board of the Essen DITIB State Regional Association and the Chairman of the Balve Mimar Sinan Mosque Association stated that they were in Senegal to have cataract surgery performed for those who have eyesight problems, and said that with the aid of charitable, they were a “light” for hundreds of people after two days of surgery.
Guler also said that the DITIB delegation provided aid packages to the needy. “It feels very good to be hopeful to people in poverty. We would like to thank the benefactors, the members of the DITIB family, and the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation for supporting this movement of goodness.”
Guler stated that they have observed this disease in middle-aged people, middle-aged persons as well as in children, youth, and even babies in Africa in Europe and Turkiye. “There are people in Africa who cannot leave their homes, work, or find a job due to cataract disease.” As DITIB family, we took care of our victims and oppressed brothers and sisters and ensured that the surgeries were performed by 6 doctors in a private hospital in Dakar.” The DITIB delegation, which traveled to Senegal to survey cataract surgeries and distribute aid packages to those in need, visited 4 orphanages in Senegal and Dakar and met their needs.
