The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) delivered Qurbani meat donated by benefactors to people affected by the conflict in northern Mali.

Continuing its efforts under the motto “Share Your Qurbani Get Closer To Your Brother,” TDV officials and volunteers carried on Qurbani slaughters on the second day of Eid al-Adha across nine regions in Mali.

Portions of the meat were packaged in 7-kilogram bags and distributed to needy.

One of the key distribution points was Segou, where many civilians have been displaced due to conflict. The meat, processed and portioned under TDV supervision, was delivered to disabled people and impoverished families.

In Segou, locals shared heartfelt words, saying that Türkiye has a special place in their lives because it never forgets them.

TDV volunteer Gürkan Çiğdem recalled a touching moment: “When we handed out balloons with the Turkish flag to the children, some kissed them. It brought tears to our eyes. The love for Türkiye here is overwhelming.”

In the troubled northern region of Gao, where terror attacks are common, Qurbani meat was also distributed with the help of local volunteers.

Furkan Faruk Taze, the West Africa Regional Representative of Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), stated that they initially planned to slaughter 5,900 cattle, corresponding to 41,300 shares.

“However,” he said, “due to the overwhelming interest and support from our people, we have increased this number. Inshallah, by tomorrow, we aim to complete the slaughter of 6,900 cattle, equivalent to 48,300 shares, fulfilling the entrusted donations to the best of our ability.”
