Total of 1100 aid packages from TİKA and TDV to South Africa

The Turkish Co-operation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) distributed a total of 1,100 aid packages in South Africa in cooperation with the Johannesburg-based Muslim Ulema Council.

Turkiye’s ambassador to Pretoria, Ayşegül Kandaş, said in a statement that the number of aid packages carried out by Turkish organizations in South Africa with the support of TIKA and TDV exceeded 3,000.

Kandaş stated that the distribution of aid packages will continue later in Ramadan and expressed his thanks to all the charitable who extended the Turkish people’s helping hand to the other side of Africa.

Turkiye’s Pretorian Embassy Minister for religious Services Ahmet Yılmaz stated that they have completed the distribution of 700 aid packages in Azadville, Soweto, Ennerdale, Aandblom, and Jan Hofmeyer of Gauteng province in the last 2 days and that they plan to reach 1300 by the end of Ramadan.

Yilmaz stated that for the first time this year, a religious officer was appointed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs to provide religious services to Turkish citizens living in South Africa during Ramadan.

TIKA South Africa Coordinator Abdulkadir Abukan said that as of the first week of Ramadan, they had distributed 400 aid packages in the Hector Spruit region of Mpumalanga province. “We are grateful to the Turkish people for their generosity and kindness to the people of South Africa and look forward to their ongoing partnership with our Turkish brothers and sisters,” said Bilal Vaid, the Muslim Ulema Council.
