Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are acquiring skills through sewing and soap workshops

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) Bangladesh Coordinator Oğuzhan Adsiz stated that the soap and sewing workshops in Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar region permit Arakanese Muslim (Rohingya) refugees to acquire a profession.
In his statement, Adsız stated that Rohingya Muslims have gained a profession by working in the soap and sewing workshop in Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar region.
Adsız mentioned that in the soap workshop, along with a chemical engineer, there are 7 workers involved in the filling and packaging processes. He pointed out that the workshop produces 10,000 liters of soap per month.
Adsız noted that products such as liquid dishwashing detergent, liquid laundry detergent, and liquid hand soap produced in the workshop are distributed to refugees, social facilities, hospitals, military and police checkpoints.
Adsız emphasized that due to hygiene issues in the camps, the production launched is an important effort to ensure a healthier environment and avoid hygiene problems. He said, “Thanks to our donations and the trust placed in our donations, we can carry out such projects, touching the lives of people in these lands.
Adsız noted that in the sewing workshop, 14 Rohingya Muslim women are involved, and he mentioned that these women sew uniforms for students, surgical textiles for hospitals, clothing for children in Madrasas, including outfits for special occasions, and everyday wear.
