The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) opened 15 water wells in the West African country of Benin and brought the people of the region together with clean water.
In Benin, where the inhabitants of the rural area have traveled for miles to reach clean water sources, TDV teams who came to the country to provide clean water and support with food packages completed the opening of the wells.
Nearly 150,000 people have received clean water with 15 water wells drilled in rural areas of different cities of the country.
İhsan Açık, the 2nd Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TDV, said that the people of the region are experiencing difficulties in terms of hunger, poverty, and access to clean water.
Explaining that 58 water wells were drilled in Benin, 15 of which were within the scope of the Ramadan organization, Açık said, “We try to be a kind of salve to our brothers and sisters here by bringing the consigned of our brothers and sisters in Turkiye here. We strive to be able to come here more, to be able to do more permanent projects.”
The number of water wells has increased rapidly in recent years, He said:
“Our brothers and sisters in Turkiye and our heartland have increased their conversation about this place so that the children do not get thirsty by watching television. It’s as if a mobilization has been declared to drill water wells around here as soon as possible. The water well we’ve drilled in the last two years has started to increase many times more than it did 10 years ago. This means the prayers of our brothers and sisters here have reached. The one that comes with the Turkish flag means that it brings beauty, smiles, hugs, unite them with water.”
