Orphans in Malawi received Eid al-Adha aid, made possible by the donations of Turkish benefactors and delivered by TDV teams.
Within the scope of the “Share Your Qurbani, Get Closer to Your Brother” initiative, a team of 12 volunteers from the foundation paid a heartfelt visit to the Muhammed Girl Islamic Academy orphanage in Malawi.
The TDV team closely engaged with the orphans, playing games with them and handing out thoughtful gifts. Aid materials, sourced through the support of Turkish benefactors, were distributed to the children residing in the orphanage as part of Eid al-Adha adherence.
“I am happy to see Turkish people”
Speaking on behalf of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, volunteer Furkan Avcı highlighted the foundation’s humanitarian efforts in one of the world’s most impoverished nations. He explained that the children at the visited orphanage receive both shelter and education and added: “On Eid al-Adha, we plan to carry out the Qurbani and distribution of the Qurbani animals entrusted to us by the Turkish public. This country ranks among the four poorest globally. Along our route, we saw hundreds of people in dire need. The conditions here are harsh, and the level of poverty is heartbreaking. We’ve seen it for ourselves.”Amin Timbele, Secretary General of the Muslim Association of Malawi, expressed his joy at seeing Turks in Malawi. Emphasizing that no other nation visits their region apart from the Turkish people, Timbele said:“Please don’t forget us. You come every year — and we hope you will continue to come. Thanks to your support, we can achieve beautiful things here. I am truly happy to see the Turkish people among us.”
