TDV provided aid to more than 10 million people in Türkiye during the Holy Ramadan

During the Holy month of Ramadan, the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation delivered aid to more than 10 million needy people in our country, especially in the earthquake region.

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), which has been delivering aid to the earthquake region since the first day of the earthquake, carried out its aid in Türkiye, especially in the earthquake region, during the Holy month of Ramadan.

İzani Turan, the General Manager of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, who provided information about the Holy Ramadan aid, stated that they did not leave anyone in need, whether in the earthquake zone or Türkiye, without help. İzani Turan emphasized that they mobilized all their resources, especially for the earthquake victims in the earthquake zone, and said, “This year, we made every effort to deliver all of our Ramadan aid to earthquake victims and needy brothers and sisters throughout the country, particularly in the earthquake zone.”

During the Holy Ramadan, aid provided to more than 5 million earthquake victims in the earthquake zone

Stating that the nation has acted with the spirit of solidarity since the first moment of the earthquake, Turan said, “We tried to keep the spiritual climate of the Holy Ramadan alive with the goodness tents and Masjid tents we established in the earthquake region. Within the scope of our Ramadan program in 2023, we have delivered aid to more than 5 million earthquake victim brothers and sisters, including 100 thousand food packages, 100 thousand hygiene packages, 50 thousand shopping aid cards, 20 thousand goodness bags, 20 thousand prayer sets, 50 thousand Holy Quran, 17 thousand Eid clothes and 3 million Iftar and Sahur in the earthquake region. 

We provide aid to 5 million needy people outside the earthquake zone

Turan also mentioned that they provided aid in other cities outside the earthquake regions during the Holy Ramadan period, saying, “Throughout the Holy Ramadan month, our staff and volunteers conducted great effort throughout the country and delivered aid to needy families. Through our 1003 branches, we reached more than 5 million people in need within the scope of our Ramadan aid program. We provided Zakat and Zakat Al Fitr to 500,000 people, Iftar to 770,000 people, Eid clothes to 342,000 people, food packages to 1,759,000 people, and shopping aid cards to 1,631,000 people. After the earthquake, we did not forget our brothers and sisters who were hosted in many parts of our country after leaving their hometowns. We mobilized all our resources in the provinces they were hosted in. We did not forget the needy families whom we have been helping every year. With the blessings of the Holy Ramadan, we tried to aid anyone in need throughout our country.”

“Our nation has presented the best examples of solidarity and brotherhood”

“In recent years, there have been difficult processes due to the impact of the pandemic. This year, we had a sorrowful month of Holy Ramadan due to the earthquake. Turan said, “In this hard time, our people once again demonstrated their generosity by presenting the most beautiful examples of sharing, solidarity, and brotherhood this Holy Ramadan, as they always do, and continued his words as follows:

“Our Goodness Tents served at 41 points in the earthquake zone, 11 of which were very large. During the Holy month of Ramadan, we offered Iftar and Sahur to 3 million earthquake victims and officials in the region. The Goodness Tents served our brothers and sisters in the region in a versatile way. For example, various activities were organized in these tents before and after Iftar. We tried to erase the negative effects of the disaster by organizing various activities for children. We organized various activities for children such as traditional Turkish puppet shows and games before and after Iftar in these tents. Our purpose was to try to obliterate the negative effects of the disaster on them. We also arranged various activities for the sisters in our tents. Additionally, as you know, many mosques were severely damaged in the earthquake zone. To enable our citizens to perform their prayers comfortably, we set up around 500 Masjid tents.

As the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, we do not leave our little brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake alone. We presented 20,000 Goodness Bags containing stationery sets, coloring books, notebooks, educational games, and activity books to our children in the disaster areas. In addition, we have sent around 50,000 copies of the Holy Quran to this region so far. Why the Holy Quran? Our people want it. They say, “I can relax by reading the Holy Quran, could you send me the Holy Quran?” They say, “My Holy Quran was buried under the rubble” or “The Holy Quran is inside a house that I cannot enter, we need the Holy Quran.” We distributed Holy Quran to them.

Despite all the difficulties, our generous nation continues to aid its neighbors, brothers, and orphans. After the earthquake, millions of our brothers and sisters were affected and the number of the needy increased. 

Along with this, the sensitivity of our citizens who donate also increased, and we became a bridge between the giving hand and the receiving hand.
