Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) has begun distributing food packages to 1,000 needy families in Azerbaijan for Ramadan. The distribution was organized in cooperation with the Religious Services Counsellor’s Office of the Turkish Embassy in Baku, with the participation of TDV Deputy General Manager Recep Şükrü Balkan, Religious Services Counsellor İhsan Açık, TDV volunteers, and residents.

Balkan emphasized that TDV strives to reach all oppressed regions worldwide during the holy Ramadan. This year, the foundation plans to distribute over 228,000 food packages across 86 locations, with the aid of staff and volunteers. Highlighting Ramadan as a month of sharing and solidarity, Balkan stated, “During the holy Ramadan, when Islamic brotherhood and compassion reach their peak, we act as a bridge to deliver the donations of donors to the needy.”

Counsellor Açık noted that the food packages will be distributed in Baku, Ganja, and Saatly. He stressed the importance of sharing, saying, “As we share bread, we also hope for shared dua. Our wish is that no brother or sister has to worry about what to eat for iftar or suhoor.” Following the speeches, the food packages were loaded onto trucks for distribution to the needy.
