 Türkiye Diyanet Foundation aims to reach 25 million people on Eid al-Adha

İzani Turan, the General Manager of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), stated that they aim to reach 25 million people with over 600,000 Qurbani shares that will be donated this year.

In his statement regarding the preparations for Eid al-Adha, TDV General Manager İzani Turan mentioned that the efforts were progressing well and that this year’s aid would continue to increase, as is the case every year.

Turan recalled Religious Affairs President Ali Erbaş’s statement emphasizing the focus on earthquake-stricken areas during this year’s Eid al-Adha. However, he mentioned that there is an insistence from the donors. We are already planning to donate within the country, but there have been requests to allocate some of our shares of Qurbanies to the poor and needy in other impoverished countries as well. Therefore, we have opened up that donation channel, but it is limited. Last year, we conducted Qurbani activities in 83 countries, but this year we have reduced it to 49 countries. By doing so, we will not neglect the regions that are completely deprived of food and water.”

Turan explained that they will not withhold aid until the regions affected by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş rise gain. He stated, “Our priority, specifically for Eid Al Adha, will be the earthquake-stricken areas. This is certain, and Inshallah, we will not let any house or any earthquake survivor be left disadvantaged.”

Turan expressed that donations to TDV have increased this year, saying, “Last year, we received 525,000 shares from donors. This year, I believe we will reach 600,000 shares, and perhaps even surpass that number. The compassionate wings of this nation are so wide that they encompass the world as far as the crescent can reach.”

Turan highlighted that Qurbani donations to TDV can be made through various channels and said, “They can be made at our central headquarters. If our people come directly to Ankara and say, “I want to personally deliver my donation here,” not only will they receive the information they need, but they can also obtain details about the organization and its operations. He mentioned that donations can be made through phones, banks, and PTT branches. However, he emphasized that the most important method is through our provincial and district Muftis, which means through our 1,003 branches, where these donations can also be made.

Turan mentioned that it is possible to exceed the donation of 600,000 shares this year, stating, “Perhaps we have the opportunity to reach 620,000 or 630,000 shares. We may achieve even more, but we are heading towards that point initially. On this occasion, the possibility of reaching 25 million people instead of the 22 million people we reached last year has become quite clear. On this occasion, I would like to express our gratitude to all donors and those who trust us.”

Additionally, Turan mentioned that citizens can make their Qurbani donations to TDV until 5:00 PM on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
