President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş announced that this year they would give priority to the earthquake victims and to the needy in Türkiye in terms of Eid al-Adha donations.
The “2023 Qurbani on behalf Organization Promotion Meeting” jointly carried out by the Presidency of Religious Affairs and Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) was held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs and the chairman of Türkiye Diyanet Foundation Board of Trustees.
Speaking at the meeting held at the TDV Kocatepe Conference Hall, President of Religious Affairs Erbaş stated that our civilization is a civilization of compassion and that the foundations of Qurbani go back to the Prophet Adam, and that it is a worship dating back to the history of humanity.

Remarking that the Qurbani worship stands out with its aspects of taqwa and tawhid and submission, President Erbaş also pointed out that providing aid to the people in need around the world through Qurbani organizations transforms the consciousness of Wahdat into a universal brotherhood ethic.
Drawing attention to the fact that the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation extend its helping hand to every part of the world where it is needed, without any discrimination of language, religion, race, and sect, President Erbaş noted the following:
“We endeavor to come to the aid of Muslim minorities, those exposed to wars, occupations, disasters, the poor, the orphans, and the helpless. The presidency of Religious Affairs and Türkiye Diyanet Foundation are doing good works in many fields from social aid to education and the construction of mosques. Since its establishment, Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has been instrumental in many beautiful services as the bridge of charity of our beloved nation with the belief that ‘benevolence will change the world’. Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has become a symbol of goodness both in our country, in the Islamic geography, and all over the world.”

He stated that the Presidency of Religious Affairs which is legally in charge of carrying out the works related to the principles of worship also guides our nation about the Qurbani worship in terms of knowledge and practice and that they are striving with all their means to make sure that all citizens who are able to perform the Qurbani worship can fulfill this special worship in the most correct and safest way.

Stating that one of the most important services provided by the Presidency of Religious Affairs together with the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation is the “Qurbani Organization on behalf”, President Erbaş reminded that they have been carrying out qurbani on behalf programs since 1993 in order to help citizens who want to share their qurbani with those in need.
President Erbaş noted that TDV fulfills the Qurbani on behalf with great sensitivity in accordance with the principles of our religion and said, “In the organization, which is carried out in a very transparent manner, the names of the proxy givers are read one by one and the slaughter of the animals are carried out personally under the supervision of our religious officials and volunteers working in our Presidency of Religious Affairs and both the officials and volunteers of our foundation and delivered to those in need.”
“We will keep on lending our hands to the oppressed”
Sharing the information that 525,550 shares of qurbanis entrusted to the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation in 2022 were slaughtered in 81 provinces and 922 districts in Türkiye and in 82 countries and 375 regions abroad under the supervision of volunteers and officials and distributed to 21,897,917 people, President Erbaş said, ” Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has slaughtered a total of 3,916,723 shares of qurbanis donated by our benefactors in 30 years and delivered them to those in need. Under the shadow of our moon-starred flag, we will continue to hold the hands of the oppressed in order to embrace the world surrounded by the crescent moon with goodness, Inshallah.”
“We will be striving for relieving the pain of our earthquake victim brothers and increasing their enjoyment of Eid”
President Erbaş stated that because of the great earthquake disaster, this year they will give their priority to the domestic and area of the earthquake for the Qurbani aids and continued his words as follows:
“We will be striving for relieving the pain of our earthquake victim brothers and increasing their enjoyment of Eid, inshallah. Our beloved nation has come to the aid of their earthquake victim brothers in a manner that is befitting the nobility and faith. As I have stated before, these aid will continue to be given until all of the needs are covered and all the wounds are healed, inshallah. The aid and the support of our Presidency of Religious Affairs and Türkiye Diyanet Foundation will continue to be provided until there is not even a single victim brother who is in need. In this context, we consider the Qurbani worship as a great blessing and a significant opportunity. We will use this great worship to heal our wounds and to strengthen our brotherhood relations further, inshallah. Within this context, I think that our grateful nation will choose the domestic option more in terms of the Qurbani on behalf. In addition, we will continue to lend the hands of the benevolence of our nation to the people in need in other regions of our country and the needy, oppressed, and victims in 49 countries.

President Erbaş announced that as the Presidency of Religious Affairs and Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, they have determined the price of the Qurbani on behalf in 2023 as 5.950 TRY in Türkiye and 2.750 in abroad.
President Erbaş stated that the individuals who want to support the Qurbani on behalf organisation of the TDV can to donate online from the website address www.tdv.org and bagis.tdv.org and continued as follows:
“They can share their Qurbani on behalf using our mobile donation application that is downloadable to cell phones. They can also participate in the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation qurbani on behalf program via the banks, all PTT (Post and Telegraph Corporation) branches, religious officials, TDV branches, and province and district muftis. Also, every citizen can call the number 0 312 416 90 00 and receive detailed information about the Qurbani on behalf.
Our citizens residing abroad can also entrust their Qurbani on behalf via the Religious Services Counselors, Attachés, Coordinatorships and mosque associations, and religious officials in these countries.”
Qurbani donation booths will be set up in 81 provinces
President Erbaş expressed that citizens can both receive information about the Qurbani on behalf and make their donations at the Qurbani donation booths to be set up through 1003 branches in 81 provinces and many district centers to enable the citizens to make their donations before Eid al-Adha easily.
Stressing that as Muslims, they should strengthen their helping and solidarity mechanisms further by making more efforts and showing their efforts in unity and solidarity and stated the below:
“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to our citizens who share their Qurbani, donations, and Duas with the people who are oppressed and in need all around the world. I hope that the good deeds we perform will be instrumental in strengthening our solidarity and unity, brotherhood, and sincerity in our beloved land and I wish that our good deeds will carry peace, blessings, prosperity, and mercy to every corner of the world to where our hands of benevolence reach. May Allah (swt) grant us peace in our hearts, prosperity in our households, blessings for our families, our country, the Islamic world, and humanity, and bring guidance and peace to all mankind in our Qurbani worship which brings us closer to our Allah (swt) and every creature that carries life in themselves.”
President of the High Board of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Haçkalı, President of the Diyanet Academy Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enver Osman Kaan, 1st Legal Counsellor Selami Açan, General Director of Hajj and Umrah Services Remzi Bircan, General Manager of Türkiye Diyanet Foundation İzani Turan, Ankara Provincial Mufti Dr. Hasan Çınar and many TDV volunteers participated in the meeting.
